Corinne and I checked out the new *SUPER SECRET* bar PDT on saturday evening. After some veggie-dogs and tator tots at crifdogs we made our way to the "phone booth" on the left-side wall. It all makes sense now why they moved the tables over to the opposite side of the room a couple months ago. We entered the little phone room-- barely squeezing in together -- and I took a look inside. A printed note instructed us to pick up the receiver, hit the button, and wait for further instructions. I forced Corinne to do it because I was 'scared.' The man on the other end asked "how are you" and moments later the side wall of the booth burst open. A woman asked if we had reservations (later I found out they try to force everyone to make reservations) which we did not. She offered kindly to sit us at the bar. I ordered a gin and tonic (pictured -- courtesy of flickr member Cocktailian) and corinne got a beer. The place was nicely decorated. Darkly lit with wood walls and ceilings. Vintage style bar with stuffed animals up on the walls. Each animal had their own light switch. Cute. There was a bizarre mini-village scene inset into the floor near the front booth I didn't get a clear look at. My drink was interesting; pricey, but a nice size. You can order all the food from crifdogs if you so desire (the bartenders have access to the kitchen through a mini-silver plated food door). It seems to be nice place to have 1 or two drinks with a friend; more people if you make reservations. It never will get too crowded because they don't allow standing room patrons. A rarity for NYC. The bartenders were friendly and we got to sample a new drink they were trying out.

If I'd only known about this on Friday! Eater reports that Gowanus Yacht Club has a new 'cobble hill' outpost called Trout. On Friday, Carrie and I had plans to hit Gowanus but it was way too packed. We headed over to Zombie Hut for some summery drinks which was fun, but it would have been nicer to be in the sun and fresh air. I'm excited to try out Trout -- they have veggie burgers and fries!
I just read about this in Time Out:
The Wee Pub
Garden gnomes stare at patrons from behind the bar at this watering hole opening later this week in Hell’s Kitchen. Owners John Dempsey (Vynl, El Centro) and Tom Murphy (Latitude, Social) have outfitted the place with elevated banquettes so that patrons themselves feel a bit wee—your feet barely reach the ground. Draft beers are poured into extra-large mugs, too. 751 Ninth Ave at 51st St (212-707-8489).
Sounds awesome... pics here: http://www.sheckys.com/email/395.htm
In case you missed it, apparently in NYC there's a new breed of "pirates" that are "raiding" bars in a hunt for "treasure." Treasure-like BOOZE that is.

Hey guys! Let's put on pig-costumes, and hunt for truffles in the city! Except instead of truffles, we will be hunting beer! And then drinking it! Let's do it!

* i'm putting my name because, I haven't posted in awhile, and I want you guys to KNOW its me. I'm back!!!!
As most of you know, I (Sarah) have been home in Seattle for the past week. Missed me???.
Its been a pretty leisurely vacation... I got my hair cut at Vain on Monday, spending only $40 on a top-notch cut -- take that NYC salons!! Note to seattle women: Emily was my stylist, and I highly recommend her.
There was also lots of fun eating excursions -- we ate at Blue C, a fun conveyer-belt style sushi restaurant, at my favorite place Ivars (best fish 'n chips anywhere) and my parent's fave, I Love Pho (hey, I love pho too now).
I played a little Nancy Drew (leftover xmas present) and watched a really silly movie. I hung out with Rachel and Carrie, where we went on a fruitless Gelato search, to the extreme disappointment of my tummy. Risoooooooo!!!! I also got to meet Carrie's nice friends Stephanie and Dave, who introduced me to their Judah (Judah 2.0) their 3-year old son. If the two Judah's met, would the world explode?
Well, I return to NYC tomorrow night on the red-eye. I'm sad that I just barely missed THE DANCE BATTLE OF THE CENTURY (front page news on the Stranger this week, see above left) -- a dance-off between two 80s style street dance duos at Westlake mall. Carrie was there, and has a great post here about it. And the Stranger just put up a little documentary about the event here (its pretty grainy, but still funny).
Only in Seattle guys, only in Seattle...
Well I tried to retire from the stage(the footlights...they are so bright...) but I've been lured back by the scent of fame and fortune...Ah theatre! Your siren call beckons me once again to what rocky shoreline of success and famousessness!
Actually, what really happened is that Deron wrote this great play, 707 Pine, and asked me to help read it. And I was like, "well ok, but i'm retired." And then Deron was like, "ok, i'll try to find someone else." And I was like, "ok, let me know if you can't find anyone else and i'll do it." And he was like, "yeah i can't find anyone else. you should do it." And I was like, "ok i'll do it." But I do hear the sirens calling. Really.
Now for all you Emerald City ex-pats out there, you might recognize 707 Pine as the address of Linda's, one of Seattle's finest drinking establishements. Anyone who has ever spent a July afternoon out back at Linda's, under the shadow of a paint-by-numbers Mt. Rainier, knows that its a great spot.
Great bar, great play, and a great actor named Judah Stevenson.
If you can, please come and support these fine folks. Here's the details:

Last night I went to see the Fatales at Pianos. The show was great and I tried to take some pictures so that I could post them along with a witty summary of the evening, and thus finally become a true blogger. Unfortunately, I haven't got the camera skills, so here you go:
And look at this! I got a shot of the lead singers spirit leaving his body during the show! Wow! I mean, I thought it was crowded at Piano's last night too, but thats ridiculous!
And even though I'm a shitty photographer, its a good thing I had my Camera with me after all, because afterwards Joby and I went to Motor City and I discovered just how bad things have gotten for him. When I suggested that we play Lord of The Rings pinball, Joby pulled his hand out of his pocket to reveal this:
Thats right. 62 cents, a piece of lint, and a button. Please, someone, won't you give this boy 38 cents, that he might, someday, play pinball?

They're here!!!! As many of you know, I am addicted to Cadbury Mini-eggs. Mini-eggs are NOT mini-versions of the creme eggs, folks. Those are good, but different. Mini-eggs are their own entity of deliciousness. They have a hard candy shell, with milk chocalate center. Basically a bigger M&M but tastier. They arrive in stores around easter time (generally March and April) and then disappear, only to return next year. So c'mon guys, pick up a bag, and enjoy! (or give it to me)
